Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has officially announced his retirement from directing films. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the celebrated director confirmed that while he will step back from helming projects, he will continue to play an active role in the industry as a producer. Speaking about his decision, Rakesh Roshan stated, “I don’t think I’ll be directing any further, but I’ll surely be announcing Krrish 4 very soon.” This announcement has left fans speculating about the new director for the superhero franchise. Rakesh Roshan’s journey with the Krrish franchise began in 2003 with the groundbreaking sci-fi film Koi Mil Gaya. This was followed by Krrish in 2006 and Krrish 3 in 2013. The series showcased Hrithik Roshan in dual roles as Rohit and his superhero son Krishna, aka Krrish. The franchise also featured a stellar cast, including Preity Zinta in the first installment and Priyanka Chopra in the subsequent films. While stepping away from directing, Rakesh Roshan remains dedicated to preserving his cinematic legacy. He has announced plans to re-release some of his iconic films, starting with the 1995 blockbuster Karan Arjun, set to hit theaters on November 22. Reflecting on this, he shared, “Not every film works, but Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai will also be completing 25 years in January 2025. Since Karan Arjun was also a January release, I moved the re-release to an earlier date to avoid a clash. January is already packed with releases.”
In addition to Karan Arjun, he plans to re-release his 1988 revenge drama Khoon Bhari Maang, starring Rekha and Kabir Bedi, offering fans another chance to experience his cinematic masterpieces on the big screen.
