Ahsaas Channa on Her First Netflix Film Greater Kalesh
Ahsaas Channa is entering a new creative chapter with Greater Kalesh, her first-ever solo-led Netflix film. Directed by Aditya Chandiok and produced by Terribly Tiny Tales, the heartwarming Diwali special captures the highs, lows, and quirks of modern family life. The film has already struck a chord with audiences for its gentle storytelling and emotional honesty.
Sharing her excitement about the project, Ahsaas revealed, “When I first read the script, it felt like one of those nostalgic Disney shorts—simple yet deeply moving. It’s not the typical family drama. There’s warmth, humor, and familiarity that’s rare to find today.” She also pointed out how Greater Kalesh stands apart from the darker OTT content dominating the space: “This one’s light and pure. You can watch it with your parents, laugh together, maybe shed a tear, and still feel good afterward.” – Ahsaas Channa on Her First Netflix Film Greater Kalesh

The film follows Twinkle Handa, a young woman returning home unexpectedly for Diwali, only to find that home brings both comfort and chaos. Ahsaas connected strongly with Twinkle’s emotional journey, especially the guilt of not giving enough time to loved ones. “I’ve never actually stayed away from home, but I completely understand that guilt. Even when I’m busy, I make sure to spend at least an hour daily with my mom,” she shared. “Twinkle’s mom in the film has that quiet strength and unconditional love, which really moved me.”
For Ahsaas, portraying Twinkle was a transformative experience. Known for her lively and mischievous roles, this time she embraced a calmer, more introspective character. “We wanted her to feel grounded—someone who listens more than she speaks,” she explained. “Twinkle isn’t performative. Playing her made me grow as an actor and as a person. She’s older than me in spirit, and that challenged me to approach her with more stillness and depth.”
She also praised director Aditya Chandiok for creating a warm and collaborative environment on set. “Aditya is easily one of the kindest directors I’ve worked with,” she said. “And seeing my face on a Netflix poster—it still feels unreal! This is my third Netflix project, and there are two more on the way. I feel incredibly grateful to have found such a creative home.” – Ahsaas Channa on Her First Netflix Film Greater Kalesh
Describing Twinkle’s complexity, Ahsaas added, “She’s not perfect. She overthinks, wants control, and sometimes says the wrong things—but she’s real. Her biggest struggle, or kalesh, is being misunderstood. And I think a lot of people will relate to that.”
Reflecting on her artistic evolution, Ahsaas concluded, “I’ve always loved acting, but Greater Kalesh made me rediscover why I do it. It’s no longer about being relatable—it’s about being honest.”
Currently trending on Netflix, Greater Kalesh shines as a heartfelt Diwali treat that beautifully celebrates family bonds, forgiveness, and self-discovery.
