The highly anticipated Hindi remake of Drishyam 3, starring Ajay Devgn and directed by Abhishek Pathak, has reportedly faced a setback due to a legal clause imposed by the creators of the original Malayalam franchise. Sources quoted by Mid-Day reveal that the announcement, initially planned for October 2, 2025, has been temporarily halted.

While work on the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 is already underway — with superstar Mohanlal beginning his shoot on September 22 — the Hindi remake was scheduled to start filming in December 2025. Trouble reportedly arose when the Hindi team prematurely announced a release date of October 2, 2026, shortly after Mohanlal confirmed the Malayalam shoot. This move reportedly upset Antony and Jeethu, prompting them to enforce the clause and pause the Hindi team’s promotional activities.
Industry insiders suggest that tensions have been building for some time. Initially, the plan was to release all three versions — Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu (starring Venkatesh) — simultaneously on October 2, 2026, under Jeethu Joseph’s direction. However, creative differences emerged when Kumar Mangat insisted on Abhishek Pathak directing the Hindi remake, leveraging the success of Drishyam 2 (2022).
With the Malayalam team pushing ahead, Antony and Jeethu reportedly intend to release their version first.
