Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Action Thriller Alpha Postpones
In a major update from Yash Raj Films (YRF), the much-awaited action spectacle Alpha starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari has been officially postponed. The film, which was earlier slated for release in December 2025, will now hit theatres on April 17, 2026.
According to the studio, the decision was made to allow more time for post-production and visual effects, ensuring that the film achieves the level of grandeur and technical excellence envisioned by the creators.
“Alpha is an ambitious project with a strong visual and action-driven narrative. The VFX work requires additional time to reach the desired cinematic standard,” a YRF spokesperson explained.

A High-Octane Spy Universe Chapter
Set within the expansive YRF Spy Universe, Alpha features Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh as the central leads, locking horns in an intense power battle against Bobby Deol, who plays the antagonist. Anil Kapoor also appears in a significant role, adding further gravitas to the ensemble.
The film marks Alia Bhatt’s debut collaboration with Yash Raj Films and her entry into the acclaimed spy franchise that includes hits like Pathaan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War. Unlike its predecessors, Alpha places the spotlight squarely on its female protagonists, making it India’s first large-scale, female-led spy action thriller. – Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Action Thriller Alpha Postpones
Why the Delay?
Insiders reveal that the delay is purely a creative decision, not related to competition or release clashes. The VFX and world-building demanded a level of precision that the current schedule couldn’t accommodate.
Sources close to the production said,
“The technical team was working under tight deadlines. Extending the timeline gives them the space to deliver the visual and emotional scale the story deserves.”
A Strategic Move for a Bigger Impact
The change also opens up YRF’s December 2025 slot, which previously clashed with Agastya Nanda’s Ikkis. The new April 2026 release gives Alpha a cleaner box office window, setting it up for a grand global launch.
With Alia Bhatt and Sharvari leading from the front, Alpha is expected to redefine how Indian cinema portrays female action heroes — blending emotion, style, and scale. The film promises high-octane stunts, world-class visual effects, and a gripping storyline that could set new benchmarks for Bollywood’s spy universe.
