After delivering his fifth ₹100-crore hit Thamma, actor Ayushmann Khurrana is on a career high. The film, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, cemented his entry into Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe. Now, in an exclusive masterclass with Pinkvilla, the versatile actor has unveiled exciting details about his upcoming projects — including his much-talked-about film with legendary filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya and two genre-defying ventures with YRF and Dharma Productions.
On Collaborating with Sooraj Barjatya: “I’m the New Prem!”
Ayushmann confirmed that his next family entertainer will be with Rajshri Productions, helmed by Sooraj Barjatya, and it’s a project that holds deep emotional value for him.
“Yaar, wo bachpan ka pyaar hai Sooraj Barjatya. Unki parivaarik filmein dekh kar bade hue hain hum. I often joke that I’m the new Prem — Prem se bolo Jai Mata Di, as we say in the North,” Ayushmann quipped with a smile.
He revealed that while the film carries Barjatya’s trademark family warmth, it also comes with a meaningful layer.
“This movie beautifully blends both our worlds — his classic family narrative and my kind of realism. It has a wonderful message, but it’s not preachy. That’s what I love most about it. It resonates with my core as an actor and as a person,” he shared, adding that he’s thrilled to be essaying the role of Prem.
On Upcoming Films with Dharma, Sikhya & YRF
The Dream Girl actor also confirmed two “genre-breaking” films in collaboration with leading production houses.
“The untitled film with Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment is quirky and unique — a true genre-breaker, which is exactly what excites me. Then there’s another project with Posham Pa Pictures and Yash Raj Films — again, something very different from what audiences have seen me do so far. All these upcoming movies push boundaries in some way or the other,” he revealed.

Ayushmann’s 2026 Line-Up: A Power-Packed Year Ahead
Sharing his release schedule for next year, the actor said,
“I’ll have three releases next year. First up is Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, followed by the Dharma–Sikhya film, and then Sooraj Barjatya’s family drama. All three are very special to me and offer something completely different.”
