A New Chapter in the Baahubali Legacy
Helmed by Ishan Shukla, known for his work on Star Wars: Visions and The Bandits of Golak, Baahubali: The Eternal War picks up the story immediately after the climactic moments of the original films. Sharing the teaser on social media, the franchise’s official handle wrote:
“Amarendra Baahubali’s death wasn’t his end — it was the beginning of something eternal.”
The announcement instantly sent fans into a frenzy, marking the franchise’s first major animated feature following the massive success of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion.
SS Rajamouli Clears the Air
Amid speculation that the teaser hinted at Baahubali 3, director SS Rajamouli clarified the project’s intent during an interview with Prabhas and Rana Daggubati while promoting Baahubali: The Epic.
“There’s a rumour that this is Baahubali 3, but it’s not. The Eternal War is a continuation of the Baahubali universe — an animated feature, not a live-action film,” Rajamouli explained.
He revealed that producer Shobu Yarlagadda had long been exploring ways to expand the franchise beyond its live-action films. “Shobu met Ishan Shukla, a young animation filmmaker with a brilliant vision. His concept offered a fresh way to explore the same world from a different narrative angle. The idea clicked instantly, and the team has been developing it for over two years,” Rajamouli shared. – Baahubali The Eternal War Teaser Unveiled

India’s Biggest Animated Film Yet
With a production cost estimated at ₹120 crore, Baahubali: The Eternal War is being touted as one of the most expensive animated films ever made in India. The project aims to elevate the country’s animation landscape by combining top-tier technology with deeply emotional storytelling.
Prabhas, who immortalized the role of Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali, expressed excitement about the new format.
“It’s amazing to see Baahubali being reimagined in animation. The visuals look spectacular, and with a ₹120 crore budget, it might just become India’s biggest animated film — nearly what the first Baahubali cost when we started.”
