Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, are currently facing legal trouble following the filing of a case against them under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case stems from a controversial episode of the web series Gandii Baat, specifically from its sixth season, which aired on the OTT platform Alt Balaji between February and April 2021. The accusations focus on the portrayal of inappropriate scenes involving minors in the series.
As per the Mumbai Police, a complaint has been lodged at the MHB police station in Mumbai, targeting Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor. The complaint alleges that certain scenes depicted in the series involved explicit content featuring underage girls. The contentious episode in question has since been removed from the Alt Balaji platform and is no longer accessible for viewing.
This legal issue has surfaced just as Ekta Kapoor’s recent film, Love, Sex aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2), directed by Dibakar Banerjee, hit theatres on April 19. The film’s promotional material includes a striking poster that explores the effects of the digital age, depicting a couple caught between emotional connection and the distance created by modern technology.
