Actor Gulshan Devaiah, who earned widespread acclaim for his role as King Kulashekhara in Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, has shared his thoughts on the recent controversy involving Ranveer Singh. The debate erupted after Ranveer imitated the sacred ‘Daiva’ ritual from Kantara, which hurt the sentiments of members of the Tulu community and sparked criticism online.
Speaking in an interview, Gulshan maintained a balanced and empathetic stance. He acknowledged that while he personally is not deeply affected by such incidents, he understands why people connected to the culture might feel hurt. “If someone feels disrespected, their feelings are valid. Ranveer has apologised, and I think we should accept that and move forward,” he said, adding that mistakes can happen when emotions take over.
Ranveer Singh had earlier issued a public apology, clarifying that his intention was to praise Rishab Shetty’s powerful performance in Kantara. In the same interaction, Gulshan also spoke warmly about working with Rishab Shetty. He praised the filmmaker-actor’s calm approach under pressure and described him as ambitious, hardworking, and resilient. “His ability to handle stress is remarkable. There is mutual admiration between us, and I’m truly happy to see him where he is today,” Gulshan shared.
