I Am Not An Actor Cast Chitrangada Satarupa Opens Up About Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Actress Chitrangada Satarupa has opened up about her experience of working with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the upcoming film I Am Not An Actor, admitting that the idea of sharing screen space—albeit virtually—with the seasoned performer initially made her anxious. Despite the nervousness, she described the experience as “fun and beautiful.”

Speaking exclusively with India Today, Chitrangada shared,
“At first, it felt like a daunting task. I wasn’t nervous about the video call format, but about acting opposite Nawazuddin. It’s a big responsibility and an even bigger challenge. I was both excited and stressed because I wanted to deliver a performance that made the director proud and made Nawazuddin feel his co-star was rightly cast.”
She went on to describe the process as deeply rewarding.
“The dialogues were beautifully written, and I decided to fully surrender to each scene and focus on the emotional core of the moment. That’s when it all started to feel real and organic,” she added.
Chitrangada also revealed how Nawazuddin’s improvisations helped her refine her own portrayal.
“We were allowed to improvise, which brought a lot of depth to our performances. Nawazuddin added subtle touches and emotional shifts that encouraged me to be tougher and a bit more raw as my character. There were times I doubted whether I should push that hard, but that inner conflict actually helped me grow as an actor.”
Reflecting on the creative journey, she concluded,
“I enjoyed that mental struggle. A character or situation must challenge you — that’s where the real fun lies. I Am Not An Actor was a truly enriching experience.”
Directed by Ritwik Mukherjee, I Am Not An Actor is scheduled to release in the UK on November 7, with the India release date expected to be announced soon.
