After stepping away from the spotlight for nearly ten years, Imran Khan is finally gearing up to return to cinema—though not for the reasons many might assume. The actor, who was last seen in Katti Batti (2015), says his comeback isn’t about reclaiming stardom but about embracing the evolution that life has brought him.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Imran shared that the decision to face the camera again came organically. “The film we’re making is exactly what the Break Ke Baad team would create 15 years later,” he said, referencing his 2010 romantic drama. “It’s a natural progression. A Film Born From Personal Growth
Imran described his upcoming project as deeply personal and creatively fulfilling, shaped by the maturity and introspection both he and director Danish Aslam have gained over the years.
“The story is something we felt compelled to tell at this point in our lives,” he explained. “The shoot is done, the film is in post-production, and we’re waiting for the streaming platform to lock in a release date.”
On Working With Bhumi Pednekar
The film also features Bhumi Pednekar in a key role, an addition Imran says was chosen unanimously.
“It was a very collaborative decision,” Imran revealed. “All of us felt Bhumi was the right fit and would elevate the story. She brought a great vibe to the set—and so did Gurfateh (Pirzada). Honestly, this was the happiest set I’ve ever worked on.” – Imran Khan on His Comeback to Bollywood
Bhumi was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi (2025) alongside Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh.
A Decade Away, A New Perspective
Imran Khan’s extended break from films also allowed him to reflect on major personal changes, including his divorce. He noted that those experiences reshaped him far more profoundly than his early acting years. Returning to the industry now feels aligned with who he has become.
The actor, who briefly turned to direction with Mission Mars: Keep Walking India in 2018, seems ready to embrace this new creative chapter—one rooted in authenticity rather than ambition.
