The future of Jr NTR’s ambitious Devara franchise appears to be hanging in the balance. Fresh reports suggest that Devara Part 2, which was earlier positioned as the continuation of the story, may have been put on hold following the lukewarm performance of the first installment. The 2024 release failed to create the expected box office impact, and now speculation around the sequel is at an all-time high.
According to a report by Let’s Cinema, the second part has been stalled for the moment. Director Koratala Siva is said to have developed a revised script and narrated the updated version to Jr NTR. However, the actor reportedly felt that the new draft lacked coherence and seemed forcefully designed to stretch the narrative. What is adding to the uncertainty is the contrast between earlier optimism and the current silence. Devara Part 1 followed the story of a powerful chieftain who secretly smuggles goods via the sea and later discovers the shipments are actually dangerous weapons. His attempt to shut down the operation leads to betrayal by those closest to him. After issuing a final warning, he disappears, leaving his son Vara to grow up resenting him for abandoning the family. With the sequel’s future now unclear, Jr NTR has already shifted focus to his next project, tentatively titled NTRNeel (Dragon). Directed by Prashanth Neel, the action spectacle is slated for a June 25, 2026 release and is expected to feature Rukmini Vasanth and Tovino Thomas in key roles.
Fans are now waiting for an official confirmation from the makers of Devara to know whether Part 2 will be revived or scrapped permanently.
