The dispute over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s alleged will has intensified, with the Delhi High Court directing Priya Kapur—Sunjay Kapur’s widow—to respond to a petition filed by actor Karisma Kapoor’s children. The petition seeks permission to inspect the original copy of their father’s purported will, which they claim is forged.

Samaira and Kiaan Kapur Question Validity of Will Alleged to Be Worth ₹30,000 Crore
Sunjay Kapur’s children, Samaira and her younger brother, have challenged the authenticity of the will—said to involve assets valued at nearly ₹30,000 crore. The siblings allege that the signatures on the document are not their father’s and have accused Priya Kapur of conspiring with the attesting witnesses.
Priya Kapur’s legal team has rejected these accusations, calling them “baseless and fabricated.” In an earlier hearing, her counsel argued that minor spelling errors cannot be grounds to dismiss a will and pointed out that the children had not initially objected to the signature’s authenticity. Children Request Inspection of Original Will
The will, along with supporting affidavits, had been submitted in a sealed cover by executor Shradha Suri Marwah on September 25. The siblings now seek physical inspection of the original document, stating that the certified copy provided to them is insufficient to judge the will’s genuineness.

“Inspection of the original copy of the alleged will is necessary for the plaintiffs to take appropriate steps regarding the authenticity of the document, which cannot be determined from the certified copy made available to them.”

Interim Plea to Prevent Alienation From Assets
The High Court is also hearing another application filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children seeking an interim injunction to restrain Priya Kapur from distancing them from their father’s properties. This hearing is scheduled to continue on November 20.
During arguments, the children accused Priya Kapur of acting out of greed, even labelling her a “Cinderella stepmother”—a reference to the fabled character whose stepmother mistreats her while favouring her own children.
Previously, the court had directed Priya Kapur to disclose the list of Sunjay Kapur’s assets. She informed the bench that the children had already received ₹1,900 crore from the family trust.
