During her appearance on Simi Garewal’s talk show, Madhuri revealed the amusing and adventurous story behind her first outing with Dr Nene. Instead of a typical coffee or dinner, he suggested they go mountain biking — an activity completely unfamiliar to her.
Recalling the moment with her signature humour, Madhuri said:
“When we met for the first time, he said, ‘Let’s go mountain biking.’ I swear I hadn’t sat on a bicycle for 20 years. But I said, ‘Okay, let’s go.’ My mom was shocked, wondering if I even knew what it involved. I thought, ‘You just sit on a bike and go,’ but once we got there, I realised what mountain biking really means!”
She described how she found herself riding down steep slopes, terrified yet determined. Laughing at the memory, she admitted:
“I was frightened out of my wits… I kept thinking, ‘Did I actually come down that?’”
When she eventually confessed her inexperience, Dr Nene was pleasantly surprised by her willingness to try something so challenging. Madhuri recalled him admiringly telling her:
“You are brave.”
