Mahabharat Actor Pankaj Dheer Passes Away
The Indian entertainment industry has lost one of its most respected veterans. Actor Pankaj Dheer, celebrated for his unforgettable portrayal of Karna in BR Chopra’s legendary television series Mahabharat, passed away today at the age of 68.
According to reports, the actor had been battling cancer, which unfortunately relapsed a few months ago, leading to a gradual decline in his health. Despite undergoing surgery and treatment, Pankaj Dheer could not recover.
The news of his demise was confirmed by his close friend and actor Amit Behl, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss. The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) also issued an official statement mourning his death:
“With profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform you of the passing away of our Trust’s erstwhile Chairman and CINTAA’s former Hon. General Secretary, Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, on October 15, 2025. The cremation will be held today at 4:30 p.m. next to Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai.”
Pankaj Dheer’s contribution to Indian cinema and television spans decades. Apart from Mahabharat, he appeared in numerous films and shows, including Andaaz, Taarzan: The Wonder Car, Sasural Simar Ka, Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev, and Shobha Somnath Ki.
He is survived by his son, Nikitin Dheer, a well-known actor recognized for his roles in Bollywood films, and daughter-in-law Kratika Sengar, a popular television actress.
Fans, colleagues, and admirers across the nation have been paying heartfelt tributes to the veteran performer whose powerful screen presence and dignified persona left an indelible mark on Indian entertainment.
