Mona Singh on Recreating Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela
Actor Mona Singh, who recently starred in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, opened up about her experience recreating the cult classic song ‘Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela’. In a conversation with Filmfare, the Made in Heaven and Laal Singh Chaddha actress revealed that filming the sequence came with its own unique challenges and required immense precision.
Sharing insights into the making of the song, Mona said, “I didn’t shoot with Bobby because his original version was already there. I had to film my part separately, which made it quite tricky. We had to match every single movement exactly as in the original — right down to the smallest detail. I was given a very specific frame to move within — I couldn’t step out of it even slightly.” – Mona Singh on Recreating Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela

Mona also spoke about the team’s dedication to capturing the vintage charm of the late ’90s. “From the outfit and makeup to the hairstyle — everything was meticulously designed to reflect that era. We didn’t want to miss a single beat when it came to recreating the vibe. It was a lot of fun, actually — a mix of nostalgia and challenge,” she shared.
The actress, who plays Neeta Singh in the film, expressed her joy over the show’s success, saying she’s “on cloud nine” with the response. Following this project, Mona is gearing up for her next release — Thode Door Thode Paas, a heartfelt family drama premiering on ZEE5 from November 7, 2025. The series features an impressive ensemble cast including Pankaj Kapur and Kunaal Roy Kapur.
Mona’s reflections offer a fascinating peek behind the scenes of recreating a beloved Bollywood track — from nailing the choreography to embodying the retro aesthetic with authenticity. Her passion for her craft and attention to detail clearly shine through, making her performance a seamless blend of tribute and originality.
