It looks like fans of Munna Bhai might finally have a reason to celebrate! After years of speculation, actor Arshad Warsi has confirmed that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is seriously working on the script for Munna Bhai 3. The beloved franchise, starring Sanjay Dutt as the lovable goon Munna and Warsi as his loyal sidekick Circuit, has remained a fan favourite since the release of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).
In a recent conversation with Screen, Arshad shared a promising update on the long-awaited sequel. “For a long time, Munna Bhai 3 seemed impossible, but now Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) is genuinely working on it. The actor also reminisced about his unforgettable on-screen partnership with Sanjay Dutt, recalling the fun they had while shooting the earlier films. “Sanju is incredible — he’s a unique kind of talent. Working with him was always fun. I’m usually terrible at remembering scripts, but for Sanju, I had to keep track of the entire storyline just to remind him what scene we were doing that day. He’d ask, ‘Bro, what’s happening today?’ and I’d explain where we were in the film. What you see on screen was pure magic,” Arshad laughed.
Back in 2023, Warsi had mentioned that Hirani would only move ahead with Munna Bhai 3 once he found a story that lived up to the franchise’s legacy. A year later, Hirani himself confirmed at a Screen event that a new idea was taking shape. “The next part has to surpass what we’ve already done.
