Pakistan Labels Salman Khan a Terrorist
Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has become the center of a major international controversy after Pakistan reportedly declared him a “terrorist” in response to his comments made at the Joy Forum 2025 held in Riyadh.
The uproar began when Salman, while addressing a global audience at the prestigious event, mentioned Balochistan separately from Pakistan while discussing the growing international collaboration in Indian cinema. His remark — “There are people from Balochistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan working here” — was interpreted by Pakistani authorities as a suggestion that Balochistan is an independent entity, not a province of Pakistan. – Pakistan Labels Salman Khan a Terrorist
In reaction, the Government of Pakistan allegedly placed the actor under the “Fourth Schedule” of its Anti-Terrorism Act (1997) — a section reserved for individuals considered threats to national integrity and kept under strict surveillance. The Home Department of Balochistan even went as far as to describe Salman Khan as an “Azad Balochistan facilitator,” accusing him of indirectly promoting separatist ideology.

The move has ignited a storm of debates online. While several Pakistani officials criticized the actor for “undermining” their sovereignty, Baloch activists across social media hailed Salman’s statement as a rare acknowledgment of their identity and struggle. Meanwhile, Indian fans and Bollywood insiders have largely mocked Pakistan’s response, calling it a “ridiculous overreaction” to an innocuous comment made in a cultural context.
As of now, Salman Khan has not released any official statement addressing the controversy. However, sources close to the actor suggest that he is unlikely to respond publicly to the diplomatic row anytime soon.
