The much-awaited wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal hit an unexpected roadblock when Smriti’s father suddenly fell ill just a day before the ceremony. Now, Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, has offered clarity amidst ongoing rumours. Dispelling speculation about a breakup or cancellation, she reassured that the wedding is very much on track. Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said,
“Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain… Palash sapna dekh raha tha ki woh apni dulhan ko ghar lekar aayega. Main ne toh uske liye khaas welcome bhi plan kiya tha… Sab theek ho jayega, shaadi bohot jaldi hogi.”
Her statement confirms that the couple’s social-media cleanup—especially Smriti removing several wedding-related posts—should not be misinterpreted as a sign of trouble. After the postponement, Palash reportedly experienced a spike in blood pressure and was hospitalized in Sangli before being shifted to Mumbai for better treatment. Thankfully, he has now been discharged and is recovering well. Smriti’s father is also back home and stable.
In the midst of all this, both Smriti and Palash have added evil-eye emojis to their Instagram bios, a subtle message indicating their desire to shield themselves from negativity and “nazar.”
While an official new date is yet to be announced, the families have assured that the wedding will take place soon, bringing relief to fans eagerly waiting for the celebrations to resume.
