The much-anticipated wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and musician-filmmaker Palash Muchhal came to an unexpected halt after Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden heart-related health scare. The incident not only led to the wedding being postponed but also deeply affected Palash, who was later hospitalised due to emotional stress. His sister, singer Palak Muchhal, was seen visiting him at a Mumbai hospital soon after.
Now, Palash’s mother Amita Muchhal has broken her silence, shedding light on what truly happened and how the events unfolded.
“Palash Decided to Pause the Wedding Until Uncle Recovers”
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Amita revealed that Palash has an exceptionally close bond with Smriti’s father.
According to her, Palash immediately insisted that the wedding rituals should be put on hold until Srinivas Mandhana regained full health.
She shared,
“Palash is extremely attached to Smriti’s father—sometimes even more than Smriti herself. The moment he fell ill, Palash was the first to say that the rituals cannot continue until Uncle gets better.”

Emotional Breakdown Led to Palash’s Hospitalisation
Amita explained that the situation had taken a heavy emotional toll on her son. After the haldi ceremony, the family tried to keep him indoors to help him stay calm, but the emotional strain overwhelmed him.
She recalled,
“He cried continuously, and his health suddenly deteriorated. We rushed him to the hospital, where he was kept under observation for four hours. They administered an IV drip, conducted ECG and other tests. Thankfully, everything was normal—he’s just under extreme stress.”
What Happened to Smriti’s Father?
Smriti’s father had been in high spirits during the sangeet celebrations. Amita revealed that he danced joyfully throughout the night and even posted cheerful moments online.
But his health declined the next day.
“He danced a lot the previous night—he was truly happy. But while we were discussing baraat arrangements, he began feeling uncomfortable. Wedding Plans Shelved After Medical Emergency
Smriti and Palash were set to marry on November 23, 2025, in Sangli. However, after the sudden health emergency involving Smriti’s father, the families made the difficult decision to postpone the ceremony. Palash’s stress-induced breakdown added to the urgency of pausing all celebrations.
Following the cancellation, Smriti and her close friends deleted all wedding-related posts from social media, signaling a complete halt to the festivities.
