Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has revealed that he declined to be a part of Ajay Devgn’s upcoming thriller Drishyam 3. The much-anticipated Hindi installment of the Malayalam hit is currently in development, with the script locked and casting underway. While earlier reports suggested that Rawal was in talks to join the Drishyam universe, the actor has now clarified that he decided to step away after reading the part offered to him.
In a candid chat with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal shared,
“Yes, the makers did approach me. But I didn’t feel the role was suitable for me. Maza nahi aaya (I didn’t enjoy reading my part).”
He further explained that even though the film’s story was gripping, the character didn’t resonate with him on a personal or creative level.
“The script is very strong. I was quite impressed. But even in a well-written film, an actor needs a role that excites him. Without that spark, maza nahi aayega,” he added.
Drishyam 3 will serve as the final chapter in the critically acclaimed suspense franchise that began in 2015, featuring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles. The Hindi version is expected to mirror the Malayalam Drishyam 3, which reportedly brings closure to the gripping saga.
While fans expressed disappointment over Rawal’s absence from the film, many praised his integrity and selective approach to choosing characters that challenge his craft. With the film expected to go on floors soon, the question remains—who will step into the role Rawal declined?
