Actress Monika Khanna, who currently plays the lead antagonist in Sun Neo’s Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani, is brimming with excitement as Ganesh Chaturthi approaches. For her, the festival is not just about devotion but also about cherishing a long-standing personal tradition that makes the celebrations even more meaningful.

Speaking about the cultural diversity in how the festival is celebrated, Monika shared, “I’ve mostly witnessed Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai, where the celebrations are nothing short of magnificent. In Delhi too, people have started bringing Bappa home with the same enthusiasm. Every region has its own way of welcoming him, but for me, Bappa is like my own child.” –  Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri

This year marks a special milestone for the actress. “It’s my 16th year of bringing Bappa home. I make sure to welcome him with all the affection and care, just as one would pamper a little kid,” she said with a smile.

For Monika, the festival holds deep emotional significance. “We begin everything by remembering Bappa. He gives us the strength to overcome challenges. In Mumbai, the Ganesh Utsav brings such an infectious energy that it feels like the whole city forgets its worries.”

Talking about her festive favorites, she revealed, “My mother makes the most delicious modaks, which I absolutely love. I also enjoy besan laddoos. Since I treat Bappa like a child, I even offer him chocolates, toffees, and other little treats.” – Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri

Her love for the festival goes beyond food and fun. Monika also follows a unique practice every year. “For the past 14 years, instead of carrying flowers or sweets to Ganpati pandals, I have been offering stationery items. They never go to waste and can be used by children who truly need them. Later, I distribute them to underprivileged kids. I would love for everyone to follow this thoughtful practice too,” she explained.

Even with her busy shooting schedule, Monika is hopeful that Bappa will guide her path to visit pandals this year. With a heart full of devotion, she concluded by wishing everyone: “May this Ganesh Chaturthi bring joy, peace, and prosperity to all. Ganpati Bappa Morya!”
