Bollywood’s beloved superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 on November 2, and the celebrations were nothing short of grand. The actor marked the milestone with a heartfelt interaction with his fans in Mumbai — and surprised everyone with the title teaser reveal of his upcoming film, King.
During the event, SRK opened up about the film and delved into his character’s complex shades, admitting that his role in King is one of the darkest he has ever portrayed. Reflecting on his evolution as an actor, he said,
“The idea of heroes and villains is something people have created. Early in my career, I did Darr, Baazigar, Anjaam, and Don — all of which had characters with negative streaks. I’ve always believed that if we don’t experiment, cinema becomes repetitive. The hero just comes, sings, fights, and leaves. That’s boring.”

Talking about his much-discussed role in King, Shah Rukh described it as a deep, morally ambiguous character.
“The character of King is fascinating. Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh have written it beautifully — he’s dangerous, dark, and yes, he kills people. But that doesn’t mean you should do what he does,” SRK remarked with a smile, drawing laughter from the audience.
He also reflected on how his film choices have changed over the years.
“I think it’s important for actors like me to explore different types of roles — romantic, comic, inspiring, or even dark ones like this. I now take up one or two big films a year because making movies today is much tougher. I want to be careful and make sure I never disappoint those who love me.”
Offering a glimpse into the tone of the upcoming film, SRK added,
“It’s not about labeling him as a villain or a hero. He’s just a grey, ruthless man — and that’s what makes him so interesting. Every line in the teaser reflects his nature. I hope people love it, but they shouldn’t emulate it.”

The ensemble cast also includes Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, and Raghav Juyal, with Deepika Padukone and Rani Mukerji making special appearances.
As fans eagerly await King, SRK’s revelations have only heightened the excitement, promising a gripping blend of intensity, emotion, and charisma — with the “Baadshah of Bollywood” in a never-seen-before avatar.
