Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Updates
As Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completes a remarkable 17-year journey since its debut on July 28, 2008, the show remains a household favorite across generations. Among its most cherished characters are Jethalal, portrayed by Dilip Joshi, and Dayaben, played by Disha Vakani. Although Disha has been away from the show for several years now, the audience’s love for her character hasn’t faded. Recently, Dilip Joshi reflected on the memorable bond he shared with his on-screen wife.
Dilip Joshi Reminisces About Working With Disha Vakani
During a media interaction on the sets of the show, Dilip Joshi fondly recalled his working experience with Disha Vakani. “She left the show in 2017. It’s been quite a while now. We’ve shared some truly iconic scenes over the years,” he expressed.
Dilip shared that their connection on-screen came naturally, right from the beginning. “She comes from a theatre background, and so do I. From day one, our chemistry was just spot on,” he said.
The veteran actor further explained how their performances were elevated by strong writing. “The scripts and scenes we were given were already so well-written. When we added our own little nuances, it turned into something even more enjoyable,” he recalled. “As an actor, I genuinely miss her presence. The kind of fun we had, that unique chemistry — it’s something I definitely long for.”
Why Disha Vakani Stepped Away from the show?
Disha Vakani stepped away from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah after announcing her first pregnancy. Although there were talks of her returning post-lockdown, her plans changed again as she was expecting her second child. Since then, reports have frequently surfaced about the makers looking for a new face to reprise the beloved role of Dayaben.
Despite her absence, the show continues to run strong with its stellar cast, including Munmun Dutta, Mandar Chandwadkar, Sonalika Joshi, Amit Bhatt, and others playing significant roles.
As fans continue to hope for Dayaben’s return, Dilip Joshi’s words serve as a heartfelt reminder of the magic the duo once brought to Indian television screens.
