As Baahubali: The Epic gears up for its theatrical re-release on October 31, director S.S. Rajamouli has finally revealed the key scenes that were trimmed from the re-edited version — including actress Tamannaah Bhatia’s love track with Prabhas.

The Baahubali franchise remains a groundbreaking achievement in Indian cinema, redefining the scale of storytelling and visual grandeur. With both parts of the saga having achieved cult status globally, the upcoming release combines Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion into one seamless narrative. – Tamannaah Love Track Removed in Baahubali The Epic

In a recent promotional interview featuring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, Rajamouli shared intriguing insights into the re-editing process. He revealed,

“When we merged both parts and removed the rolling titles, the total length came to nearly five hours and twenty-seven minutes. The final runtime of the new version is around three hours and forty-three minutes. We had to trim several portions, including Avanthika’s (Tamannaah’s) love story with Shivudu, and songs like Pacha Bottesina, Kanna Nidurinchara, and Irrukupo. Even a few war sequences were shortened.”

Explaining the thought process behind the cuts, the filmmaker added,

“Every sequence in Baahubali has its own emotional and narrative depth. But for this version, we wanted it to feel more compact and purely story-driven. Initially, our first cut was over four hours long. We conducted special screenings for both film enthusiasts and general audiences, gathered feedback, and then tightened the narrative.”

Rajamouli also disclosed that the concept of Baahubali: The Epic had been in the works for nearly five years. – Tamannaah Love Track Removed in Baahubali The Epic

“We wanted to see if the two-part story could be told as one film. We experimented with a linear narration — that didn’t fit. Then we tried shortening scenes, which also didn’t flow well. Finally, we chose to remove a few episodes altogether,” he explained.

In a light-hearted moment, when Prabhas and Rana jokingly asked whose scenes were sacrificed, Rajamouli replied,

“Both of yours — equally and without bias!”

The director also hinted at exciting developments for fans of the Baahubali universe, confirming that an animated project set in the same world is currently in progress.

Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nasser, Baahubali: The Epic promises a grand cinematic experience like never before. The film will release worldwide on October 31, with international premieres scheduled for October 29.
