Varun’s response subtly highlighted the enduring popularity of Sunny Deol, whose powerful portrayal in the 1997 classic Border left a lasting impact on audiences well beyond India. Decades later, Deol’s screen presence continues to resonate with viewers, reinforcing his status as one of Hindi cinema’s most recognisable war-film heroes.

He plays Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a real-life war hero, and described the character as the closest to his heart. The actor shared that he is eager to meet Dahiya’s family and credited real soldiers for guiding him and helping him bring authenticity and respect to the role.
Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on January 23, setting the stage for a patriotic cinematic experience anchored in history and human emotion.
