Legendary Bollywood actor Prem Chopra was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on November 8 after experiencing chest congestion. The 89-year-old star, known for his unforgettable roles across six decades of Indian cinema, is reportedly on the road to recovery.
Family Shares Health Update
Chopra’s son-in-law and actor Vikas Bhalla confirmed the news of his hospitalization and assured fans that there’s nothing alarming about the situation. Speaking to India Today, Bhalla said,
“It’s all age-related and a routine medical procedure. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about.”

Hospital Issues Official Statement
Doctors attending to Chopra echoed the same reassurance. Dr. Jalil Parker from Lilavati Hospital shared an official health update, clarifying that Prem Chopra is stable and not in the ICU.
“Prem Chopra ji was admitted under his family cardiologist, Dr. Nitin Gokhale. He had a heart concern and also developed a mild viral and lung infection. However, he is not critical — he’s in the general ward and responding well to treatment,” Dr. Parker stated.

Prem Chopra, one of the most enduring names in Indian cinema, began his journey in Punjabi films with Chaudhary Karnail Singh (1960), which won the National Award.
