The Controversy Revisited

The controversy dates back to Sidhu’s response to the Pulwama attack. Following the tragic incident in Jammu and Kashmir, where 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives on February 14, Sidhu commented, “For a few individuals, can you blame the entire nation or an individual? It was an act of cowardice, and I strongly condemn it. Violence is always deplorable, and the perpetrators should be punished.” His remarks were met with widespread public outrage, resulting in the hashtag #BoycottKapilSharmaShow trending on X (formerly Twitter).

Reports from that time indicated that the network and production team wanted to avoid further controversy, leading to Sidhu’s departure. Archana Puran Singh was brought on board, and she quickly became a staple on the show.

Navjot Singh Sidhu originally served as a permanent fixture on The Kapil Sharma Show from 2016 until his departure in 2019, and his return marks a new chapter in his association with Kapil Sharma’s comedy world.
